The Atrox 1500
At Kiwadrill, we operate the Atrox 1500. This rig is custom-mounted on a compact 4WD truck chassis, giving it exceptional mobility and access across New Zealand’s varied terrain. The setup allows the unit to reach remote farm blocks, steep country, forestry trails, and tight urban sites with ease—making it ideal for geotechnical borehole work where traditional track rigs may struggle. The truck platform provides a stable drilling base, efficient setup times, and safe operator access to controls. With the ATX rig’s power and stroke capacity paired with the practicality of a road-legal vehicle, this configuration delivers a versatile, reliable, and highly efficient drilling solution for clients who need quality data no matter where the job is.

Versatile Investigation Methods
This rig configuration supports both diamond coring and mud rotary drilling, allowing us to confidently tackle a wide range of geotechnical programs.
High-Performance Hydraulics
Danfoss-driven system delivers up to 70 L/min at 250 bar, ensuring smooth rotation, consistent push capacity, and reliable torque.
Strong Rotary Drive
Capable of delivering approx. 700 Nm of rotation torque — ideal for coring and medium-depth geotechnical drilling.
Proven Depth Capacity
Typical drilling ranges up to ~120 m for N-size coring and ~80 m when operating DTH, depending on geology and tooling.
Compact All-Terrain Access
Mounted on a 4WD truck chassis for efficient travel, rapid setup, and access to steep country, forestry tracks, and remote sites.
Certified Safety Systems
Features AS/NZ 4024-compliant guarding, emergency shut-offs, and controlled hydraulic actuation for safe daily operation.
Ideal For:
- Geotechnical boreholes for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects
- Environmental sampling, contaminated site investigations, and monitoring wells
- Shallow groundwater drilling and small-diameter water bore installations
